Nice hiking trail, can fish here, and nice kayaking spot!

Nice place for family to spend time walking around and fishing

Outdoors geological area. Great place to walk the dog but watch out for deer, bear, poison ivy, and loose rocks, roots, and organic debris. Fox, coyote, bobcats, raccoon, possum, and co-workers have been seen in the "preserve". With several neighbors claiming to have seen a mountain lion last year. From the parking lot multiple pathes wind past the "kettles" to Birge pond near several residential neighborhoods. Birge pond is suitable for beginner kayak and canoe; not too big, placid, and colorful in the Fall. Another small parking lot is adjacent to the pond....

The area was very scenic, but there were some unsavory characters hanging out. I wouldn't bring kids here

Only reason I gave this a 4 instead of a 5 is it needs some tlc by boy scouts (or someone, but I just know scouts are always looking for good Eagle projects). The marshy trails have plank paths that are sketchy in some places and missing in others. I was also saddened to see a lot of human trash by a nice bench. That said, it is about a mile circuit with fairly low DIFFICULTY that we like a lot. And The dog LOVES it. Full of history, and water fowl, fishing and you MAY see something wild.
